Evening in the Vineyard

Vinyard Evenings.jpg

Have you ever seen the movie A Walk in the Clouds?  It’s an older movie (1995), where a  married soldier returning from the war meets a pregnant woman and poses as her husband to save her from her father’s “anger and honor”.  Most of the movie revolves around the family’s vineyard and the movie is filled with beautiful scenery.  I received a batch of lovely items from some of the creators participating in the Spoonful of Sugar Festival and it was as if they were all meant to go together.  As I rezzed them all the movie came to mind and I wanted to do my own take on it.  I love the result. To the creators who allowed me the pleasure of shooting this photo, thank you!  Please be sure to visit the SOS Festival and help support the great work being done by Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders.

Hello London circa 1965!

Hello London

This photo and blog post are inspired by this “far out” gacha set from Meva.  It originally debuted at the Gacha Garden last month and is in store now! It looks like a fashion page straight out of the 60’s, when the model Twiggy was all the rage.  I was inspired to go back and take a look at the highlights of the 60’s, 1965 to be exact, and here is your little history lesson for the day…

The Mary Quant designed mini skirt hits London and is THE fashion statement of the 60’s, the movie The Sound of Music is released, gas costs 31 cents a gallon while bread is just 21 cents a loaf.  The Vietnam war continues, race riots break out in Watts, CA and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. leads the Selma to Montgomery march in Alabama. The president of the United States is Lyndon B. Johnson, The Beatles release the movie and album Help!

Mary Poppins hits theaters, the soap opera Days of Our Lives debuts and everyone is listening to The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Tom Jones.  The respirator is invented and Russian Aleksei Leonov becomes the first person to leave his spacecraft and walk in space.  {Bell rings in the distance} Class dismissed!

Make A Splash

Make A Splash

Summer 2018 will officially end on Saturday, September 22 at 8:54 PM Central Time and though many of us bloggers are totally ready for fall photos it IS still officially summer….  plenty of time for a few more summer pictures.  This one was inspired by these cute dolphin earrings and my swimming buddy agrees they are adorable!  They are by Bliensen + MaiTai and are available at the Spoonful of Sugar festival going on now thru the 30th.  This festival benefits Médecins Sans Frontières/ Doctors Without Borders and the organizers of the festival have invested a lot of time and effort to make the event a success and we can all help out by simply doing a little shopping….5 sims worth of it.  Be sure to check out the official Spoonful of Sugar website for a schedule of all the happenings.

Work that ponytail, own that updo!

It’s almost time for the Hair Fair and once again all of the creators will be sending their demos to the Hair Fair Demo Group in advance of the actual event.  This means that on September 21st you can try them all on in the leisure of your very own home, skybox, sandbox…..anywhere you’re able.  You and your friends can have fun trying new styles all day and then make your plan of  attack for the big day, September 22nd!  This will also help decrease lag at the event with fewer people trying on demos.  Here’s how you can be a savvy, smart shopper…

Zen Moments

Zen Moments.jpg

I decorated and landscaped a small parcel for a friend who wanted a little Asian inspired zen getaway and she has been gracious enough to allow me to take pictures there on more than one occasion.  When I saw these new items from ::NEWCHURCH::,  I knew I would be asking again.  I love the rich colors and the textures are just gorgeous.  The Yasuragi bed is available now at Ultra and the Kengo Tansu stepped side cabinets, which also come in 4 different configurations, are available at Blueprint, which is a brand new home and garden shopping event making its debut on September 18th.  I am so glad ::NEWCHURCH:: is participating in what promises to be a great event. Be sure to check out the event as well as the ::NEWCHURCH:: main store for a great selection of beautiful pieces.

Bed of Roses

Bed of Roses(1).jpg

I have only been blogging since May and I am loving it so much. Whether I am blogging for a sponsor or just for myself, I find it just a huge rush of creative energy, something I have been missing, mostly due to time constraints.  I am blessed to be able to have more time for such things.  Life is good.  The other thing I am finding out about my photographic “style” is that I don’t really think I have one and I like that.  I like being able to just do what feels right or to follow a great idea be it a sexy avatar shoot, a beautiful landscape, a picture with a romantic feel, a silly photo or any other idea that comes along.  I am inspired by fashion for some and art for others or even just by my mood.  I don’t want to “pigeon hole” myself into a specific style.  There is just an abundance of beauty in Second Life and I want to capture it all!  Happy Monday everyone!

Tropical Glow

While sorting through some items I received from the talented creators that will be part of the Spoonful of Sugar Festival this look just came to life. I turned on my Jamaican steel drum playlist and got into a tropical state of mind. I could see myself wearing this, walking barefoot in the sand on some tropical island, sipping a fruity, delicious cocktail.  I think I need a vacation…I KNOW I need a vacation!  Be sure you don’t miss the Spoonful of Sugar Festival.  It runs September 15th – 30th.  There are multiple shopping sims and  200 designers with exclusive items.  Creator contributions from this event will be helping to support MSF/Doctors Without Borders and the important work they do.  There will be fashion shows, entertainment, a silent auction and so much more.  Second Life brings us together from places all over the world.  Please support this event so that MSF/Doctors Without Borders can continue to help our friends, future friends and those who need it most.
