Pastel Winter

Pastel Winter

My post today is for one of the blogger challenges offered by the SL Christmas Expo called “Why I Relay“.  The challenge is for anyone who has a personal reason to support Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society and like it or not, I have reason.

I am a two time breast cancer survivor. First diagnosed in 2007, I went through the usual treatment; chemo, surgery, radiation. Thankfully, I was able to move forward, rarely giving cancer another thought, determined not to live in fear of the “what if’s” and I did that successfully. Fast forward to 2016, when I learned it was back, this time learning I had inherited a gene mutation, BRCA2 that raised my odds of getting breast and ovarian cancer greatly, 80% in fact. There was more surgery, more chemo but I did it all again, successfully and am doing well today.

Since the second diagnosis, its been a little harder not to think about the “what if’s” but they are mostly in regards to my daughter, who is about to be tested for the gene mutation she has a 50/50 chance of having.  So, why do I relay?  I relay for myself, I relay for my dear friend, Toni, who lost her fight after 3 graceful battles, I relay for my nephew, newly diagnosed with Lymphoma and about to begin chemo, I relay for all of those who have fought this battle successfully or gracefully never gave up trying and most of all I relay for my beautiful daughter, my only child, the greatest treasure I have ever known so that if she is faced with hard decisions, she will have the knowledge to make the best choices for her, in part due to the work done by The Relay for Life, the American Cancer Society and all of the other organizations working to end cancer.

Please visit the SL Christmas Expo, look around, shop, donate. There are great things available and with creators donating proceeds up to 100%, it is effortless on your part to support this great cause.

Hygge Holiday

Hygge Holiday

Ok…being the Google girl that I am, I had to find out what Hygge is, especially considering I have seen the word several times this week.  First of all, since I know you are dying to know, its pronounced hue-guh, at least according to Google and it is “a Danish and Norwegian word for a mood of coziness and comfortable conviviality with feelings of wellness and contentment”.

I think this latest gacha set from Krescendo has captured that feeling perfectly.  The pieces are just beautiful. The Hygge Holiday set will be available at The Epiphany, which starts later today. Collect all the pieces and then go enjoy your cozy, comfortable feeling of wellness…don’t we all need that!?

*Landmark to The Epiphany will be active once the event opens.

I Believe in Santa!

What to my wondering eyes should appear_

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and call’d them by name:
“Now! Dasher, now! Dancer, now! Prancer and Vixen,
“On! Comet, on! Cupid, on! Donder and Blitzen
“To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!
“Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!”

-From A Visit from St. Nicholas by Clement Clarke Moore

I love how creating a scene can bring back such delightful memories, some old and some not so old.  I loved Christmas as a child and was blessed with parents that let me believe in Santa and worked all of their magic to make it appear he was real.  I did the same for my daughter, always leaving oats, sprinkled with glitter so they would sparkle across the snow, near our front door and white, pine scented boot prints in a trail from the chimney to the tree.  Such sweet memories!  Thank you to all the creators below, who stoked the embers of those memories, letting them shine bright once again.

Silver and Gold

Silver and Gold

Silver and Gold, one of my favorite Christmas songs…probably because it reminds me of Sam the Snowman from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer but silver and gold are a beautiful combination.

My gorgeous dress is the latest from *SK* and will be available at the Kinky Event, which starts today.  It comes in beautiful metallic colors making it great for the holidays; a perfect New Year’s Eve dress.

The decor pieces come from Artemis Corner and will be available at the SL Christmas Expo.  The expo starts on November 30th and is for the benefit of Relay For Life. You can stay up to date on all the latest happenings by visiting the SL Christmas Expo website.  Once the landmark is announced to the public, it will also be on the website.  There will be hunts, raffles, snow man building, entertainment, ice skating, photos with Santa, shopping galore and so much more! The expo ends on December 9th so be sure to go early and visit often to see all the offerings.

Mellow Yellow..or Red..or Orange

Mellow Yellow

We had an extremely windy day over the weekend and it took nearly all the leaves of the Japanese Maple in the yard.  They are now pooled up, again, near the fence and garage door.  They are a lovely shade of reddish orange and I have to admit….they look pretty all piled up.

In my Second Life, I wanted to contain the mess so I am happy with my Ginkgo branch.  As you can see its leaves are falling too and it will be soon swept aside to make way for the Christmas decorations. Ok..on to the fashions!

I am super excited to have a new sponsor, Aleutia, and am starting off with a great top featured in Fameshed Go.  It is Emma, which comes in your choice of either a dress or a shirt, both with SO many options.  I am wearing the shirt here which comes in a ton of colors, 25 of them.  There are options to turn the sleeves off making it a great little tank for the summer also. You can change the color of the belt (waist section) as well the sheerness of the fabric.

The Emma top and dress are in the Aleutia mainstore and are available as part of Fameshed Go which will end on December 10th.

Another One Bites the Dust

Another One Bites The Dust

If you are reading this it means you have survived another Thanksgiving and another Black Friday.  Myself, I had an excellent holiday, excellent food and took a few days off from blogging to enjoy some shopping and family time over the weekend.  Now things will really swing into winter and Christmas so I am putting away my ammo and leaving the turkeys in peace for another year…or until I head to my refrigerator for leftovers!  Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving.

Wear It Like A Tattoo

Wear It Like A Tattoo.jpg

Loving this picture is easy to do because I love all the items I am featuring.  I mentioned a few posts ago that designers were really creating so much great stuff and it just keeps on coming.  Blogging is easy when you have great things to work with.

This sofa comes from ::NEWCHURCH:: and the texture is so realistic.  It is the Gemma 3 Leather Sofa and comes with single and adult animations.  You can change the color of the sofa and pillows to suit your decor.

Now I am not a big tattoo person but when I am in the mood to change it up the first place I look is Carol G. I love the look of this Koi Fish tattoo.  The colors are just eye-popping like so many of the Carol G. tattoos.  This one is also unisex and looks great on male or female avatars. It is currently available at ULTRA.

Last, but certainly not least, is the pose.  Great poses do so much to convey the feeling of a photo.  This one from Lyrium poses was exactly what I was looking for.  She is relaxed, just chilling out on the arm of her sofa…making me wonder what she is up to next.  It is in the Lara Series and is currently available at the Dubai Event.
