Mojito Magic

Mojito Magic

Featuring Sway’s and [InsurreKtion]

Summer is coming….When the sun begins to fade you will take my hand and lead me to the patio.  You will light a fire, not for warmth but for mood, as the summer air has left the evening warm.  You turn on some music to set the tone and pour us each a chilled mojito , made with the perfect amount of lime and mint leaves.  We watch in silence as the sun sinks to meet the horizon, the music playing softly in the background while the sounds of the evening fill the air.  Summer is coming….

10 fresh mint leaves

1/2 lime, cut in 4 wedges

2 tablespoons white sugar, or to taste

1 cup ice cubes

1 1/2 oz. of white rum

1/2 cup club soda

Place mint leaves and 1 lime wedge into a sturdy glass. Use a muddler to crush the mint and lime to release the mint oils and lime juice. Add 2 more lime wedges and the sugar, and muddle again to release the lime juice. Do not strain the mixture. Fill the glass almost to the top with ice. Pour the rum over the ice, and fill the glass with carbonated water. Stir, taste, and add more sugar if desired. Garnish with the remaining lime wedge.

An October Evening

An October Evening(1).jpg

There is a shadow in the glass, A spirit in the candlelight.

There is a ghoul’s sneer in the night, A specter on the window sash.

We are not alone in this room!  In the jack-o’-lantern’s dim glow

Burns a hint of impending doom.  Does he know something we don’t know?

Sidewalk Masterpiece

Sidewalk Masterpiece

I saw a little girl in the store the other day, pleading her mother for one of those big buckets of sidewalk chalk and it reminded me of all the sidewalk art I used to do with my own daughter.  When she was very small we lived in a neighborhood where we had sidewalks and plenty of driveway space for her to scribble out masterpiece after masterpiece with those glorious fat sticks of chalk.

When I was little, sidewalk chalk wasn’t that common…the only chalk I remember was in school. The coveted predecessor to that chalk was the big, 64 count box of Crayola crayons…you know, the one with the sharpener in the box. Oh, it was a glorious thing to behold.  The mother did, indeed, get that bucket of chalk for that little girl and I was glad for it.

One day she will look back and wistfully long for the day that she sat on the warm pavement with her little girl and drew colorful stick figures and rainbows!

Autumn Tranquility

Tranquil Autumn

I love a room filled with light and shadows and looking at this room I can feel the fresh air, just starting to chill with the setting sun, and the smell of burning leaves in the distance.  Decorating in Second Life has always brought me joy and I have spent countless hours doing just that.  That is one of the joys of having more time to blog.  I can throw up some walls or a house (which I have collected many of..houses and hair are my weakness) and build any room I can imagine.  Grab a cup of coffee, curl up on the sofa and enjoy the view!
