If I Only Had A Brain

If I Only Had A Brain(1)

Considering The Wizard of Oz is my all time favorite movie, I am pretty partial to scarecrows.  Most people don’t know that The Wizard of Oz movie is actually based on just one of a  whole series of Oz books by Frank L. Baum.  There are 14 books in total and they have been my library for years!  The original book was published in 1900 and when MGM released the film adaption in 1939, they included in the credits a dedication that to this day touches me right in the heart.

“For nearly forty years this story has given faithful service to the Young in Heart; and Time has been powerless to put its kindly philosophy out of fashion. To those of you who have been faithful to it in return …and to the Young in Heart …we dedicate this picture.”

The sunflower field by TLC will add an instant touch of autumn to your home and includes 3 highly detailed, stand alone birds you will use all year round.  You can find my scarecrow buddy, created by  pose-S, at REDEUX, open now through the 21st.   He includes 5 poses and is a great decor piece even if you are not using him for photos.  GO ahead and climb on his back…it will keep you “young at heart”.

Furry Forest Fortunes

Furry Forest Fortunes

I’m a sucker for animals in clothes.  Perhaps this goes back to my childhood, when my most favorite stories were about Uncle Wiggily Longears, the rabbit gentleman and Nurse Jane Fuzzy Wuzzy, his muskrat housekeeper.  The stories were written by Howard R. Garis with the first one being published in 1912. There were multiple illustrators through the years and I have included some of my favorite art at the end of this post so be sure to scroll all the way down for the cuteness!

They were filled with bad guys like the Woozy Wolf and the Skillery Skallery Alligator as well as young forest friends like Lulu, Alice and Jimmie Wibblewobble, the duck children and Billie and Johnnie Bushtail, they squirrel boys.  The stories were entertaining, the characters were endearing and the artwork fascinating to my child eyes.

When I saw these little Halloween forest critters I knew I had to have them, a few of them at least.  They are part of the Trick or Treat gacha set by Ionic and are available at the October round of The Chapter Four.  There are 12 different designs and I am sure I will go back for another try at some of the others!

Daydreaming

I often wonder what everyone’s thought process is when they are about to take a photo.  Of course it’s about showcasing a sponsors product but it’s not only that.  Not for me at least.  I like to look at the picture and wonder what they are doing, thinking….Do they look like they are having fun, feeling terrible….these are the photos that capture my interest.  This photo was not the photo I went out to capture but as I was testing out poses, this is the one that jumped out and captured my attention.  She just looked so thoughtful, her mind somewhere a million miles away.  It just came together perfectly, the way a good photo does.  If I am having to work too hard at a photo, fussing with the pose and lighting, I have found it best to just move on and start with a fresh idea. Make sure to check out the credits below.  I love the shirt and it is the new group gift at Meva.  Be sure to go get yours!

When the Wind Blows

When the Wind Blows

A mighty wind blew night and day.

It stole the oak tree’s leaves away,

Then snapped its boughs and pulled its bark

Until the oak was tired and stark.

But still the oak tree held its ground

While other trees fell all around.

Curiouser and Curiouser

Curiouser and Curiouser

As a huge Disney fan, I knew when I saw this Cheshire Cat by Hextraordinary out for Fifty Linden Friday that I would have to do an Alice in Wonderland themed picture.  Luckily I remembered that The Looking Glass had the perfect display set up at the Swank Event so I popped back over and planted myself in the display and grabbed the shot.  Exploring in Second Life really pays off!  The Cheshire Cat knew what he was talking about so I will end this post with a quote from that grinning, disappearing feline….”Every adventure requires a first step!”

Pet ownership!  It’s a tough job sometimes.  Last night, at bedtime I might add, my little dog proceeded to go out to do his last business of the evening, as usual. This time however, he found something that he thought would be delightful to roll around in and bring back to show mommy.  He was proud of himself and I’m sure he was thinking he was perfectly camouflaged from the squirrels he so longs to catch.  The reality was that he stunk to high heaven and required a late night bath.  He likes baths though so now that I think about it maybe that was his plan all along.  He’s lucky he’s cute!
