Witch Hunt

Witch Hunt Final

Halloween in Second Life is busy, busy, busy!  There are hunts, costume parties, special events, in other words never a shortage of shopping or recreation.  The I Heart the Cart Sale – Welcome to Heck is still going on with lots of cute and affordable Halloween goodies like my “devilish” balloons and my witchy feline friend, complete with her very own cauldron.  Also coming soon is the Spookzilla Hunt & Costume party.   It is a region wide scavenger hunt where you can find…wait for this…630 prizes.  There are 63 stores participating and each will have a minimum of 10 prizes hidden.  That is completely terrifying…for your inventory!  *cackles loudly*  My cute halter is one of the prizes that will be offered by Fetch.  The hunt runs from October 22nd – 31th and the costume party is on October 28th at 6pm SLT. You can follow Spookzillas Facebook page here for all the latest information.

Shave and a Haircut

Shave and a Haircut

Well here you have it!  My creepy Halloween picture!  As someone who loves scary movies, I’m surprised I am not more into the “creep” factor when it comes to Halloween pictures.  I have to admit this was pretty fun to arrange and I know I certainly wouldn’t be visiting this barber shop any time soon.  I mean I am not sure why anyone would need a hammer and hand drill  for a shave and a trim….best steer clear if you happen to see those lying around.  These vintage barber chairs by Krescendo are wonderfully detailed and I was even lucky enough to watch it being made live via Twitch.  Very impressive stuff!  They are available at the Red Light District and come in your choice of adult and PG versions and include a texture hud for multiple mix and match color options.  Red Light District is open now and runs through November 8th.

Pendle Hill

Pendle Hill by Lauren Bentham

A few days ago I received a group notice from the super talented Lauren Bentham, the creator and owner of several sims that I am sure every Second Life photographer knows well.  The notice said she had been secretly working on a new creepy sim just in time for Halloween and since I love Halloween and I love her work I knew I would be going to visit…well, today was the day. Pendle Hill here I come.

When you arrive at the landing point you are offered a flashlight, the Pendle Hill Info and Rules notecard and a Landmark.  The notecard contains useful information about joining the group if you wish to rez props.  The notecard also states that the sim IS going to be a year round sim, not just here for Halloween.  Be sure to use the region windlight setting and turn up your sound.  I also want to add that none of my photos have been edited beyond cropping and all the lighting you see is created inworld (Advanced Lighting enabled).  Let’s continue!

From the landing point if you turn and face the water you will see this great sunken ship silhouetted in the moonlight. You can hear the wind whipping, waves lapping and see the lightning off in the distance.  Carefully work your way inland to explore the buildings.  There is a Magick Shoppe directly ahead and more buildings to the east. I headed to what I took to be the main house.

With the creep factor setting in, I could only hope that Mr. Crow’s eyes were the only ones I felt watching every step I made.

The house is full of spooky, old things along with voices, music boxes playing and old clocks ticking.  Be sure to watch out for cobwebs!

There is much to see at Pendle Hill so allow plenty of time and explore all of the buildings and the surrounding grounds.  I will be back for sure and am glad it will be a year round build.  Have fun and happy haunting!!

Grim, Grinning Ghosts

Grim, grinning ghosts

It’s official!  Happy October everyone!  As some of you know, I have been gone the better part of a week to attend my daughters wedding.  Everything was beautiful and went wonderfully.  She is now off to the first part of her honeymoon, our favorite vacation destination, Disney World!  When I returned home last night I was greeted by some great new Halloween items to blog.  This mausoleum reminded me of the Haunted Mansion attraction at Disney World which is a favorite of mine.  It is available now at the “Welcome to Heck” – I Heart the Cart sale along with many other spooky goodies.

You can get your “Grim, Grinning Ghost” fix here.
