Visions of Sugarplums

Visions of Sugarplums (2)

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.

We are right in the middle of that time of year where treats and goodies are plentiful everywhere you look.  Myself, I have been thinking about Russian Teacakes.  They are a Christmas tradition for me and I admit to visions of them dancing in my head even while “snug” in my chair.  I am loving all the Christmas decor and photos and am starting to wonder what we will all be taking photos of after Christmas.

My pose today is by PosEd Poses and is aptly named “Thinking Out Loud”.  If you look closely you can see I am thinking about sugarplums and other treats “dancing” in my head.  I need pecans for my teacakes…I may as well head to the store so I can make my teacakes and then start thinking about the next tasty treat.

My Soft Place to Land

My Soft Place to Land

A soft place to land…we all need one.  I have a great one in my husband.  Now don’t get me wrong, sometimes he’s as soft as a brick if you know what I mean but that is to be expected in any relationship.  Not every day is perfect and there are times he makes me angry or just irritates me and I know there are times I do the same to him.  I don’t like picking up the jalapeno stems he constantly leaves on the kitchen counter and I know he doesn’t like it when I fact check him on things…like *ahem* the build up of co2 from a vent free gas fireplace for instance.

Even with all of that, he and I have far more perfect days than imperfect ones and I wouldn’t trade him for anything in the world.  I have learned a lot about relationships from him as well, most important I think is looking at things from the other person’s viewpoint….something that is not always easy to do when your emotions are in the way.  I have to remind myself that just because we are having an “imperfect” day doesn’t mean he has stopped loving me.  We can be angry with one another but that doesn’t mean the love is gone. He has stayed by my side through some major medical issues, provides a great life for the both of us, encourages my dreams, tells me he is proud of me and brings me a candy bar and a frozen coke several times a week as he comes home from work.  I hope he feels those same things from me..taken care of, respected and most of all, loved.

My Turning Page

The Rose

To my husband

TURNING PAGE

I’ve waited a hundred years
But I’d wait a million more for you
Nothing prepared me for
What the privilege of being yours would do
If I had only felt the warmth within your touch
If I had only seen how you smile when you blush
Or how you curl your lip when you concentrate enough
Well I would have known
What I was living for all along
What I’ve been living for
Your love is my turning page
Where only the sweetest words remain
Every kiss is a cursive line
Every touch is a redefining phrase
I surrender who I’ve been for who you are
For nothing makes me stronger than your fragile heart
If I had only felt how it feels to be yours
Well I would have known
What I’ve been living for all along
What I’ve been living for
Though we’re tethered to the story we must tell
When I saw you, well I knew we’d tell it well
With a whisper we will tame the vicious seas
Like a feather bringing kingdoms to their knees

Fairy Photography

Fairy Photography(1)

My daughter, an only child, got married 2 weeks ago.  It was wonderful and bittersweet at the same time.  I am so proud of her and who she has become.  We live hundreds of miles apart and I miss her every day.  She and I went hunting for fairies often when she was little and being the creative child she was, she spent a good month one summer, making tiny articles of clothing for the fairies she was sure flitted around our house.  They were bits of twisted and tied fabric that I still have to this day.  She would lay them out near her bed each night, sometimes with a note, and every morning those tiny pieces of clothing had been scooped up by the fairies sometime in the night.  This beautiful pose by PosEd Poses was a sweet reminder of the childhood moments she and I shared.  Someday I hope she has a blond haired little beauty of her own and that they spend warm summer evenings hunting fairy boys and girls among the flowerbeds and trees.

Winter Woods

Winter Woods

I know, I know!  Here I am posting a winter photo and it’s not even Halloween yet!  I do love the beauty of winter and appreciate it more now that I live in a state where it rarely snows enough to make even a dusting.  Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t want to live where the snow comes and sticks around for months anymore but I do miss it very much at Christmas.  I am starting to see posts regarding some of the winter/Christmas events and really, like most things, it will be here before we know it.  I have a feeling I will be getting my winter fix via Second Life this year!  I’m off to a great start with this photo featuring items from PosEd Poses and TLC Home Collection.  The pose is currently at the Pose Fair and the TLC items can be found at the inworld store.  I have to give a shout out to Studio Skye and Alex Bader as well!  I would be lost without his items that are my “go to’s” for set building!  Thank you all for the great creations!

Make Your Own Trail

Make Your Own TrailHappy Friday everyone!  Shooting this picture made me want to get out and ride my bike, something I haven’t done in far too long.  The heat in the southern US makes it almost impossible in the summer but we are getting some cool evenings and I think its time to dust off the trusty bicycle.  Some of my most memorable bike rides where the ones where we ventured off the path to make a trail of our own.  We always saw wildlife, sometimes a creek and usually signs that someone else had also veered off the path to make discoveries of their own as well.  This adorable pose (bike included) is from PosEd Poses and is available at the Pose Fair going on now through the 31st.  Grab your virtual bicycle and head to the Pose Fair before it ends!

I’m so excited about the Pose Fair coming soon!  I can’t tell you how many times a pose has given me the idea for a photo versus having an idea for a photo and trying to find a pose to match.  I love when it happens that way and this latest pose by PosEd Poses did exactly that.  I knew how I wanted to use it as soon as I saw it.  It is called Fall for You and includes a scattered leaf prop that is easily hidden based on whatever works for your photo.  It is one of five new poses by PosEd Poses that will debut at the Pose Fair which starts on October 1st!  I can’t wait to be inspired!
