If I Only Had A Brain

If I Only Had A Brain(1)

Considering The Wizard of Oz is my all time favorite movie, I am pretty partial to scarecrows.  Most people don’t know that The Wizard of Oz movie is actually based on just one of a  whole series of Oz books by Frank L. Baum.  There are 14 books in total and they have been my library for years!  The original book was published in 1900 and when MGM released the film adaption in 1939, they included in the credits a dedication that to this day touches me right in the heart.

“For nearly forty years this story has given faithful service to the Young in Heart; and Time has been powerless to put its kindly philosophy out of fashion. To those of you who have been faithful to it in return …and to the Young in Heart …we dedicate this picture.”

The sunflower field by TLC will add an instant touch of autumn to your home and includes 3 highly detailed, stand alone birds you will use all year round.  You can find my scarecrow buddy, created by  pose-S, at REDEUX, open now through the 21st.   He includes 5 poses and is a great decor piece even if you are not using him for photos.  GO ahead and climb on his back…it will keep you “young at heart”.

Winter Woods

Winter Woods

I know, I know!  Here I am posting a winter photo and it’s not even Halloween yet!  I do love the beauty of winter and appreciate it more now that I live in a state where it rarely snows enough to make even a dusting.  Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t want to live where the snow comes and sticks around for months anymore but I do miss it very much at Christmas.  I am starting to see posts regarding some of the winter/Christmas events and really, like most things, it will be here before we know it.  I have a feeling I will be getting my winter fix via Second Life this year!  I’m off to a great start with this photo featuring items from PosEd Poses and TLC Home Collection.  The pose is currently at the Pose Fair and the TLC items can be found at the inworld store.  I have to give a shout out to Studio Skye and Alex Bader as well!  I would be lost without his items that are my “go to’s” for set building!  Thank you all for the great creations!

An October Evening

An October Evening(1).jpg

Jack-o’-lantern

There is a shadow in the glass, A spirit in the candlelight.

There is a ghoul’s sneer in the night, A specter on the window sash.

We are not alone in this room!  In the jack-o’-lantern’s dim glow

Burns a hint of impending doom.  Does he know something we don’t know?

Furry Forest Fortunes

Furry Forest Fortunes

I’m a sucker for animals in clothes.  Perhaps this goes back to my childhood, when my most favorite stories were about Uncle Wiggily Longears, the rabbit gentleman and Nurse Jane Fuzzy Wuzzy, his muskrat housekeeper.  The stories were written by Howard R. Garis with the first one being published in 1912. There were multiple illustrators through the years and I have included some of my favorite art at the end of this post so be sure to scroll all the way down for the cuteness!

They were filled with bad guys like the Woozy Wolf and the Skillery Skallery Alligator as well as young forest friends like Lulu, Alice and Jimmie Wibblewobble, the duck children and Billie and Johnnie Bushtail, they squirrel boys.  The stories were entertaining, the characters were endearing and the artwork fascinating to my child eyes.

When I saw these little Halloween forest critters I knew I had to have them, a few of them at least.  They are part of the Trick or Treat gacha set by Ionic and are available at the October round of The Chapter Four.  There are 12 different designs and I am sure I will go back for another try at some of the others!

Dog Day Afternoon

Dog Day Afternoon

It’s fall on the farm and the family dogs are making themselves at home. A warm, autumn day is a perfect time for a nap and this beagle has found the perfect spot.  I am loving all the fall and Halloween decor that is coming out and am loving all the pictures my talented fellow bloggers are posting.  I am happy to be home and back to blogging.  It has really become a creative outlet for me!  Happy Monday all!

Seaside Snooze

Seaside Snooze

The heat index was in the triple digits yesterday…so much for autumn and pumpkin spice lattes.  Lyrium released another 1L freebie and I couldn’t resist showing it off.  There are a lot of great poses in the Marketplace that are great for new bloggers looking to build a pose collection.  You can find many that are either free or under 5L.  This bench, which I love, is by PILOT and was available on a Fifty Linden Friday a few months back.  I had just started blogging and thought that will look great in a picture and I was happy to set it free from my inventory for a bit while I took this photo.  I’m sure fall is lurking just around the corner but until she decides to show up again, I’ll stay right here.

I’m so excited about the Pose Fair coming soon!  I can’t tell you how many times a pose has given me the idea for a photo versus having an idea for a photo and trying to find a pose to match.  I love when it happens that way and this latest pose by PosEd Poses did exactly that.  I knew how I wanted to use it as soon as I saw it.  It is called Fall for You and includes a scattered leaf prop that is easily hidden based on whatever works for your photo.  It is one of five new poses by PosEd Poses that will debut at the Pose Fair which starts on October 1st!  I can’t wait to be inspired!
