The Spy Who Loved Me

the spy who loved me

Featuring [Aleutia] , Elle Boutique and Lyrium

I had such fun putting this outfit together, right down to the Russian train ticket in my hand.  The photo was completely inspired by the show “The Americans”.  My husband and I binge watched that and I was sad when it came to an end.  I thought there was some great acting, great moments and the historical look back was very interesting.

In case you have not heard of it, The Americans is about a couple living the “American dream” who are actually KGB officers.  The series takes place in the 80’s during the Cold War.  Their neighbor just happens to work for the FBI in counterintelligence.  That spin gets very interesting as the show progresses.  It appeared on FX for 6 seasons and is now on Amazon Prime if you are interested!  I highly recommend it!

The Holiday Cottage

The Holiday Cottage

Featuring Sway’s

My main home in Second Life is on a beach but every year in early November I find a small parcel on a winter themed sim or make my own in a skybox.  It’s as close to a white Christmas as I will get and I do miss my Michigan white Christmases.  When I started blogging I got a second parcel because I could see that I would be changing decor constantly and as much as I like decorating I still need my “home” to remain constant with a few changes as seasonal items come and go.

Having the second parcel allowed me to set up my own winter getaway this year.  I built it on a sky platform in case I needed to use the water and space on the ground for something and I have enjoyed it for a couple of months now.  I will probably keep it this way until the end of January, when I will start getting the itch for spring to make its appearance.

I built it loosely on the cottage in the movie The Holiday, one of my favorites any time of year. It’s a great movie where two women, played by Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz, switch homes for 2 weeks during the holiday.  It’s has a bit of everything; love, drama, comedy and of course a happy ending.

Sway’s has a few new pieces out for Fifty Linden Friday today that I added to my home and they were the perfect touch.  Be sure to check them out because while Christmas might be over, winter is not.  Stay warm!

Christmas Candy

Christmas Candy

Featuring Meva

I find myself drawn once again to combining two unlikely styles and love the outcome.  The final look of mixing the tough leather jacket with vintage looking hair and jewelry are exactly what I was hoping for. The jacket is by Meva and will be available at the new round of Cosmopolitan. The jacket comes in your choice of three colors, each including a texture hud for the shirt and patches.  The jacket can also be worn without the shirt.  The texture of the leather is very well done.  It looks like your favorite, soft, broken-in jacket and as you can see you don’t have to ride a motorcycle to make it look great!

Boots & Bacon Seeds

Boots & Bacon Seeds

Featuring Yasum & |T|L|C| Home Collection

I had to laugh as I was titling this photo and at the same time cringed a bit.  My husband, who knows what an animal lover I am, often refers to baby pigs as bacon seeds just to get a reaction out of me.  Don’t get me wrong, I love bacon but would never knowingly eat any meat that came from a baby animal.  Maybe its the mother instinct in me or maybe I am just weird! LOL  Anyway, it is a cute name for some cute creations.

The boots are by Yasum and are available at REDEUX which just started today and will run thru the 21st.  The detail and texture work are just beautiful and of course there are color choices as well as color options for the socks.  A must have for your winter wardrobe.

My sweet…tasty..I mean, just sweet, piglet friends are by TLC Home Collection.  So realistic, their fur just makes you want to reach down and pet them.  They are also animated, making gentle movements with their heads, just ready to dig into the treats I have brought them.  It is Christmas after all!

Christmas Keys

Christmas Keys.jpg

One thing I really love about the Christmas season it the music.  Growing up my mother played her collection of Christmas albums the whole month of December on a floor model record player.  Back then record players were in a large console that was actually what I would consider a piece of furniture.

I remember it well, sliding the top open and watching the records spin round and round. While the old console is long gone, my mother still keeps a record player and still plays all those old, well loved, Christmas albums.

This gorgeous piano is by Krescendo and is available now at the Seduction Fair until December 21st. The baubles in the vases are from Krescendo as well and are part of the MadPea Alliance.  You can read more about the MadPea Premium hunts here.

The beautiful dress I am wearing is by *Sweet Kajira* and is coming soon to the Sense Event which opens on December 18th.  The Jane dress comes in nine shades, perfect for the holidays and beyond.

Pastel Winter

Pastel Winter

My post today is for one of the blogger challenges offered by the SL Christmas Expo called “Why I Relay“.  The challenge is for anyone who has a personal reason to support Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society and like it or not, I have reason.

I am a two time breast cancer survivor. First diagnosed in 2007, I went through the usual treatment; chemo, surgery, radiation. Thankfully, I was able to move forward, rarely giving cancer another thought, determined not to live in fear of the “what if’s” and I did that successfully. Fast forward to 2016, when I learned it was back, this time learning I had inherited a gene mutation, BRCA2 that raised my odds of getting breast and ovarian cancer greatly, 80% in fact. There was more surgery, more chemo but I did it all again, successfully and am doing well today.

Since the second diagnosis, its been a little harder not to think about the “what if’s” but they are mostly in regards to my daughter, who is about to be tested for the gene mutation she has a 50/50 chance of having.  So, why do I relay?  I relay for myself, I relay for my dear friend, Toni, who lost her fight after 3 graceful battles, I relay for my nephew, newly diagnosed with Lymphoma and about to begin chemo, I relay for all of those who have fought this battle successfully or gracefully never gave up trying and most of all I relay for my beautiful daughter, my only child, the greatest treasure I have ever known so that if she is faced with hard decisions, she will have the knowledge to make the best choices for her, in part due to the work done by The Relay for Life, the American Cancer Society and all of the other organizations working to end cancer.

Please visit the SL Christmas Expo, look around, shop, donate. There are great things available and with creators donating proceeds up to 100%, it is effortless on your part to support this great cause.

Bells on Bobtails Ring

Bells on Bobtails Ring

I’m not so sure this “bobtail” is my size but he sure gave a fun ride.  Fashiowl Poses has come out with several cute sets appearing at various events and this Carousel prop is just one of those.  It is one of four sets available now at Tres Chic.  The sets (sold separately) have a carnival theme and include a series with cotton candy, a kissing booth, one of those “swing the hammer and hit the bell” strong man games and of course this carousel.  The carousel has 9 built in poses and offers some great photo ops.  I loved the idea of a winter carousel ride, hot chocolate waiting in the background and am sure there are plenty of these around in the real world but not near me and certainly not with this much snow.  I will enjoy this one for a few more rides in Second Life but if you are lucky enough to live near one, make sure you pay it a visit this season.  Simple pleasures are far too often overlooked!
