Furry Forest Fortunes

Furry Forest Fortunes

I’m a sucker for animals in clothes.  Perhaps this goes back to my childhood, when my most favorite stories were about Uncle Wiggily Longears, the rabbit gentleman and Nurse Jane Fuzzy Wuzzy, his muskrat housekeeper.  The stories were written by Howard R. Garis with the first one being published in 1912. There were multiple illustrators through the years and I have included some of my favorite art at the end of this post so be sure to scroll all the way down for the cuteness!

They were filled with bad guys like the Woozy Wolf and the Skillery Skallery Alligator as well as young forest friends like Lulu, Alice and Jimmie Wibblewobble, the duck children and Billie and Johnnie Bushtail, they squirrel boys.  The stories were entertaining, the characters were endearing and the artwork fascinating to my child eyes.

When I saw these little Halloween forest critters I knew I had to have them, a few of them at least.  They are part of the Trick or Treat gacha set by Ionic and are available at the October round of The Chapter Four.  There are 12 different designs and I am sure I will go back for another try at some of the others!

You’ll remember me when the west wind moves

Upon the fields of barley

You’ll forget the sun in his jealous sky

While sorting through some items I received from the talented creators that will be part of the Spoonful of Sugar Festival this look just came to life. I turned on my Jamaican steel drum playlist and got into a tropical state of mind. I could see myself wearing this, walking barefoot in the sand on some tropical island, sipping a fruity, delicious cocktail.  I think I need a vacation…I KNOW I need a vacation!  Be sure you don’t miss the Spoonful of Sugar Festival.  It runs September 15th – 30th.  There are multiple shopping sims and  200 designers with exclusive items.  Creator contributions from this event will be helping to support MSF/Doctors Without Borders and the important work they do.  There will be fashion shows, entertainment, a silent auction and so much more.  Second Life brings us together from places all over the world.  Please support this event so that MSF/Doctors Without Borders can continue to help our friends, future friends and those who need it most.

Let’s Play HORSE

Let's Play HORSE

Remember “back in the day” when we were kids and we played OUTSIDE all day?  I remember running out the door right after breakfast, six or so houses down the block to my best friends house.  I would run up on the porch and cup my eyes with my hands and press my face to the door screen and shout “Can Brenda come play?”

We played hide and seek, kick the cans and one of my favorites, HORSE.  For those who may not know, HORSE was played with a basketball.  One person would go first, pick any spot to try and make a basket and if they did then the other person had to make the shot from the same spot.  If they made it, then they got to pick a spot to make a shot and so it went back and forth.  When you missed a shot the other person had made you got an H and the next time you missed you got an O and so on until you had missed enough shots to spell out HORSE.  Whoever got HORSE first lost the game and got taunted with the “You are a horse” chant and then we would start a new game!

Such a simple game in such simple times.  We didn’t realize the joys of childhood until it was too late!  However, it’s not too late to pick up a basketball, grab some friends or family and play a good game of HORSE!  Try it!

Daydreaming

Daydreaming

I often wonder what everyone’s thought process is when they are about to take a photo.  Of course it’s about showcasing a sponsors product but it’s not only that.  Not for me at least.  I like to look at the picture and wonder what they are doing, thinking….Do they look like they are having fun, feeling terrible….these are the photos that capture my interest.  This photo was not the photo I went out to capture but as I was testing out poses, this is the one that jumped out and captured my attention.  She just looked so thoughtful, her mind somewhere a million miles away.  It just came together perfectly, the way a good photo does.  If I am having to work too hard at a photo, fussing with the pose and lighting, I have found it best to just move on and start with a fresh idea. Make sure to check out the credits below.  I love the shirt and it is the new group gift at Meva.  Be sure to go get yours!
